 TROOP 101 EXCELLS IN 2011  
     Troop 101 finished 2011 by earning two top awards from the Buckeye Council BSA. The Journey to Excellence - GOLD Award and the Training Excellence Award
As a GOLD level Journey to Excellence unit, the troop exceeded the top tier national goals for Advancement, Retention, Growth, Training, Camping, Youth Leadership, Service, Recruiting, Budgeting, and 
Award Recognition.
To earn the Training Excellence Award our unit exceeded the council requirements for scoutmaster, assistant scoutmaster and committee chairman training, youth participation in National Youth Leadership Training, round table training attendance, staffing council training, participation in adult position specific training, attending the Baden-Powell Institute, and conducting youth Troop Leader Training.
     A special GREAT JOB goes out to ALL youth and adult members for their participation and dedication to continuous improvement, growth, and fun within Troop 101.  We have an awesome program.
 

 CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR PATROLS 
     All Troop 101's patrols, the Opossums, the Rats, and the Pandas have completed the requirements and achieved National Honor Patrol status for 2011!.
     Keep up the great work, face the challenges, grow, keep moving forward and have fun!


 BADEN POWELL INSTITUTE 
     Named after the founder of the worldwide scouting movement, the Baden Powell Institute provides all adult leaders an opportunity to become a student for a day at the Kent State Stark Conference Center in a college-like atmosphere to learn about various subjects in scouting.  Receive recognition by earning your 'training cord' in this unique program.
     Saturday February 4, join your fellow scouters for a continental breakfast, snacks, luncheon, fun informative classes, a trade show, and awards. 51 classes over 5 sessions to pick from. There IS something for everyone.  Your Troop 101 scoutmaster will be there, serving on the faculty.
     Registration is now open to all registered adult scouters. Sign up today!  Mail your registration to council.



 SANDY BEAVER DISTRICT ROUNDTABLE 
      
The next Sandy Beaver District Round Table meeting is Thursday February 9 7:15 PM at the Camp McKinley Dining Hall.  This evenings program will center around Cultural Diversity and Disability Awareness.
     Roundtable the the place for information for our adults on leadership and training development and upcoming program for our district and council. The meetings continue on the second Thursday of every month, same 
time, same place.  Join us!


 PATROL LEADERS COUNCIL 
     Our next monthly Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meeting will be held following the troop meeting on Monday February 20.  
     Members: SPL, ASPL, PLs, Guides. Bring your thoughts and ideas for our upcoming plans.  This meeting will cover the upcoming January events.


 TROOP COMMITTEE 

    The Troop 101 Committee will meet Tuesday February 21, 6:30 PM at the church.
     Parents, you don't have to be registered on the committee to visit.  Any interested parent may attend to observe and learn more about the operation of our quality troop.


 COURT OF HONOR HELD 
     October 3 the troop held it's fall Court of Honor.  We presented 19 rank advancements, 76 merit badges, installed new youth and adult leaders, recognized training, Order Of The Arrow, honor patrols, honor unit, Pipestone recipients, and mile swim achievers.

 WOOD BADGE TRAINING  
     
Advanced Leadership Development for all adult volunteers is WOOD BADGE. It is offered only every 2 years in our council. The next course is now available over two weekends in August and September of 2012, registration is now open.
This energetic, fun, and challenging training program will help you daily in your personal, professional, and scouting endeavors.
     Ask Chairman Park or Scoutmaster Hobbs what they think of Wood Badge and how it has helped them grow.
Space is limited, so act NOW!



 BSA 2013 NATIONAL JAMBOREE 

     Now is the time to consider attending the next National Jamboree, July 15-24, 2013, at it's new location in West Virginia. All details may be found by following the links below. Applications are being accepted by our council for a limited number of spots.
     This is an experience you will never forget. The cost is spread over payments the coming months, you have time for fundraisers and saving, ACT NOW and APPLY!      Talk to your scoutmaster for application details.
     We already have scouts signed up, join them for the experience!
Think you're interested? Talk to Troop 101 scouts and adults who have attended a Jamboree: Scoutmaster Hobbs, Chairman Park, John Park, Mason Monter, Landon Monter.



 UNION AVE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 

     The Union Avenue United Methodist Church has sponsored scouting in our community since 1932.  Cub Scout Pack 52 and Boy Scout Troop 101.
